================================================================================ === UPGRADING FROM VERSION 3.x TO 4.0.0 ================================================================================ To upgrade spamdyke version 3.x to version 4.0.0 and maintain exactly the same behavior as before: Compile and install spamdyke 4.0.0 the same way as 3.x (use the same "--enable-tls" or "--disable-tls" option with the "configure" script). Edit spamdyke's configuration file or command line: If the "idle-timeout-secs" (-T) option is 0 (disabled), it can be removed (this is new default). If it was not given, it should be set to 60 (the 3.x default). If the "graylist-dir" (-g) option is given, the "graylist-level" option should be given with a value of "always". If the "no-graylist-dir" (-G) option is given, it should be changed to "graylist-dir" (-g) and the "graylist-level" option should be given with a value of "only". If the "always-graylist-ip-file" option is given, it should be changed to "graylist-exception-ip-file". The value should remain the same. If the "never-graylist-ip-file" option is given, it should be changed to "graylist-exception-ip-file". The value should remain the same. If the "always-graylist-rdns-dir" option is given, it should be changed to "graylist-exception-rdns-dir". The value should remain the same. If the "never-graylist-rdns-dir" option is given, it should be changed to "graylist-exception-rdns-dir". The value should remain the same. If the "always-graylist-rdns-file" option is given, it should be changed to "graylist-exception-rdns-file". The value should remain the same. If the "never-graylist-rdns-file" option is given, it should be changed to "graylist-exception-rdns-file". The value should remain the same. If the "log-level" (-l) option is given with a numeric value, the value should be changed to text as follows: "0" has become "none" "1" has become "error" "2" has become "info" "3" has become "verbose" "4" has become "debug" If the "-l" option is given with no value, it can remain unchanged. If the "log-target" option is given with a numeric value, the value should be changed to text as follows: "0" has become "stderr" "1" has become "syslog" If the "policy-url" (-u) option is given, the text should be no longer than 100 characters or spamdyke will truncate it. Also, the URL should be constructed so the rejection code can be appended. For example, if the URL is: http://www.example.com/policy.html spamdyke might append a rejection code like this: http://www.example.com/policy.html#DENIED_RDNS_MISSING If the URL ends in an equals sign (=), spamdyke will append the rejection code without a pound sign (#). For example, if the URL is: http://www.example.com/policy?reason= spamdyke might append a rejection code like this: http://www.example.com/policy?reason=DENIED_RDNS_MISSING If the "check-dns-whitelist" option is given, it should be changed to "dns-whitelist-entry". The value should remain the same. If the "check-dnsrbl" (-x) option is given, it should be changed to "dns-blacklist-entry". The value should remain the same. If the "check-rhs-whitelist" option is given, it should be changed to "rhs-whitelist-entry". The value should remain the same. If the "check-rhsbl" (-X) option is given, it should be changed to "rhs-blacklist-entry". The value should remain the same. If the "ip-in-rdns-keyword-file" option is given, it should be changed to "ip-in-rdns-keyword-blacklist-file". The value should remain the same. If the "smtp-auth-command-encryption" option is given, it should be changed to "smtp-auth-command". The value should remain the same. The "smtp-auth-level" should also be given, with a text value of "ondemand-encrypted". That's it! ================================================================================ === NEW OPTIONS ================================================================================ The following options have been added to the "configure" script: disable-config-test (/ enable-config-test) with-debug-output (/ without-debug-output) with-excessive-output (/ without-excessive-output) The following options have been added to spamdyke: config-dir config-dir-search dns-blacklist-file dns-level dns-max-retries-total dns-max-retries-primary dns-server-ip dns-server-ip-primary dns-timeout-secs dns-whitelist-file filter-level graylist-exception-ip-entry graylist-exception-rdns-entry graylist-level ip-blacklist-entry ip-in-rdns-keyword-blacklist-entry ip-in-rdns-keyword-whitelist-entry ip-in-rdns-keyword-whitelist-file ip-whitelist-entry local-domain-entry rdns-blacklist-entry rdns-whitelist-entry recipient-blacklist-entry recipient-whitelist-entry rejection-text-access-denied rejection-text-auth-failure rejection-text-auth-unknown rejection-text-dns-blacklist rejection-text-earlytalker rejection-text-empty-rdns rejection-text-graylist rejection-text-ip-blacklist rejection-text-ip-in-cc-rdns rejection-text-ip-in-rdns-keyword-blacklist rejection-text-local-recipient rejection-text-max-recipients rejection-text-missing-sender-mx rejection-text-rdns-blacklist rejection-text-recipient-blacklist rejection-text-reject-all rejection-text-relaying-denied rejection-text-rhs-blacklist rejection-text-sender-blacklist rejection-text-smtp-auth-required rejection-text-timeout rejection-text-tls-failure rejection-text-unresolvable-rdns rejection-text-zero-recipients relay-level rhs-blacklist-file rhs-whitelist-file run-as-user sender-blacklist-entry sender-whitelist-entry smtp-auth-level tls-level ================================================================================ === CHANGED OPTIONS ================================================================================ The following spamdyke options have changed their behavior/effect: graylist-dir (-g) now has no effect unless "graylist-level" is also given idle-timeout-secs (-T) now defaults to 0 (disabled) log-level (-l) now requires text values instead of numbers log-target now requires text values instead of numbers policy-url (-u) now appends the rejection code AND enforces a 100 character limit The following spamdyke options have only been renamed (behavior/effect remains unchanged): always-graylist-ip-file AND never-graylist-ip-file became graylist-exception-ip-file always-graylist-rdns-dir AND never-graylist-rdns-dir became graylist-exception-rdns-dir always-graylist-rdns-file AND never-graylist-rdns-file became graylist-exception-rdns-file check-dns-whitelist became dns-whitelist-entry check-dnsrbl became dns-blacklist-entry check-rhs-whitelist became rhs-whitelist-entry check-rhsbl became rhs-blacklist-entry ip-in-rdns-keyword-file became ip-in-rdns-keyword-blacklist-file ================================================================================ === REMOVED OPTIONS ================================================================================ The following spamdyke options have been removed: config-test-user no-graylist-dir (-G)
